Can You Keep a Secret ?

Can You Keep a Secret ?

Summary of the book :

Meet Emma Corrigan, a young woman with a huge heart, an irrepressible spirit, and a few little secrets: Secrets from her boyfriend: I’ve always thought Connor looks a bit like Ken. As in Barbie and Ken. Secrets from her mother: I lost my virginity in the spare bedroom with Danny Nussbaum while Mum and Dad were downstairs watching Ben-Hur. Secrets she wouldn’t share with anyone in the world: I have no idea what NATO stands for. Or even what it is. Until she spills them all to a handsome stranger on a plane. At least, she thought he was a stranger.…Until Emma comes face-to-face with Jack Harper, the company’s elusive CEO, a man who knows every single humiliating detail about her... My review :

The first word that comes to my mind when I think of Can you keep a secret by Sophie Kinsella is : hilarious !

But let me also start with one secret of mine : I go to unisersity by train, and a way for me to spend my time while travelling is reading... So of course, I started this book in the train, and trust me I think it was one of the worst idea of my life ! First because I couldn't just put the book down, and second (which would probably be the worst reason) because during the entire trip I had to bite the inside of my cheek and my bottom lip (which became really red) in order to desperately try to keep a straight face in front of a crowd of people on peek hours.... It is so ridiculous ! But guess it was the only way of preventing myself from being forced to go a psychiatric hospital due to "uncontrallable laughter" or "abnormal behavior in public transportation" ...

Ok, now let's talk about the book itself ... Like I said before, the story was so hilarious ! But it's also a very easy read and I personally found the plot to be really original and refreashing at the same time.

The characters of the book were also very endearing and lovable ! Of course there is Emma (the heroin of the book), how can you not like her ? I mean she is funny (though I'm not sure she does it on purpose), really sweet and sensitive, generous (maybe too much), romantic but most of all super clumsy and sometimes even goofy. I think she is the kind of girl everyone would want to have a a best friend and I found it very easy to identify with her too ! And there is also Jack... the "stanger" Emma spills her secret to ... and come on ! I'm sure every girl has once in her life dreamed of having a hot and romantic billionaire falling for us (especially after the success of the Fifty Shades or the Crossfire novels...)

All the secondary characters were also very well portrayed and I really enjoyed loving them but mostly I had a lot of fun hating them too !

So if you want to forget all your worries for let's say 4 hours, chill out and laugh untill your stomach hur,t I only have one advice for yoy : read Can you keep a secret ! (But please do not start this book in public places....)
